Pete and I have been talking recently about ways we have sabotaged ourselves, our fitness, our health and our triathlon results and we see athletes making some of these mistakes repeatedly. Now we don’t cover everything because much of it we have covered in previous podcasts with ourselves and other guest experts and pro athletes + many topics are covered in our Bottlenecks project. This one is pretty short and sweet but will give you a number of things to think about and maybe change. Enjoy! In today’s episode, we discuss:

Today we have our good buddy Craig Percival on the Fat Black Podcast for the second time (he was on way back in FB23 talking all about swimming). This time we go into his next and biggest ultra challenge to date which is 8in8in8. That is 8 iron distances, in 8 days, crossing Australia’s 8 states and territories. Now with Australia being the land mass it is… It makes it a bit of a logistical nightmare and some relatively quick times to make next flights. Get inspired to be #allergictoaverage with Craig. Enjoy. In today’s episode, we discuss:

Today we have Dr Kevin Maggs of Running Reform on The Fat Black podcast. Kevin has studied Kinesiology and Chiropractic and was brought on by Rev3 triathlon to be their ART (Active Release Technique director). Kevin created one of/if not the best video education on prescribing running shoes (link below) and started Running Reform after continually hearing the same thing over and over from both pro and age group athletes. Their pain goes away with rest but always comes back with re-introduction of training and this will always be the case when biomechanics aren’t addressed. Today we address that topic and many others. In today’s episode, we discuss:

Today we have Heather Wurtele, whom is one half of team Wurtele, on the podcast. Team Wurtele is a husband and wife team who committed, full-time, to the sport of long course triathlon in 2009. They sold almost everything they owned and bought a small RV so that they could travel, train, and race around North America. They have travelled the globe and Heather is now a 6x Ironman champion and 11 time half iron champ and was 2nd at last years 70.3 world champs. I can tell you, speaking with Heather helped me get out of a little funk after being sick. You’ll see why Heather has had so much success. In today’s episode, we discuss:

Today we have Bill Chaffey on the Fat Black to talk about how that accident has shaped his life, and the what it really takes to turn tragedy into triumph. Last year he took out first place in his Cat @ the ITU Worlds in Chicago - which Pete go to watch live - and for the past 7 years or so has been dominating the Olympic distance with multiple WC wins, and came 2nd in Kona in 2013….. Bill is an exceptional athlete no doubt, but he has an inspiring story to share…. In 2005, just 5 days before his first IM, Bill was in a serious accident, resulting in spinal damage, a broken pelvis, broken elbows and serious internal injuries. In today’s episode we discuss:
